Description One of Ammamma’s favorites
Ingredients
- 1and 1/2 cups semia
- 1 cup sugar
- 6 cups milk
- 1/2 tsp cardamon powder
- 50g raisins
- 50g cashewnuts
- 2 tbsp ghee
Method
- Heat a little ghee in a vessel
- Saute the semia in the ghee till it turns light brown. Make sure it does not burn
- Add the milk and cook on a slow flame for about 20 minutes.
- add sugar and cook for another 15 minutes.
- Fry the cashews in the remaining ghee till they are golden brown
- Turn off the heat and add the raisins to the ghee.
- Add this to the payasam along with the cardamon powder
Serve it hot or chilled
