Description A sweet dish made as prasadam for Deepavali and Vinayaka Chaturthi
Ingredients – Makes about 20
For the filling
- 1 cup channa dhal
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp cardamon powder
- 1 tbsp grated coconut
For the covering
- 1 cup urad dhal
- 1Â cup raw rice
- 1/2 tsp salt
- oil for deep frying
Method
Soak urad dhal and raw rice in water for a couple of hours.
Grind and make a thick batter
Cook channa dhal till it is almost done.
Drain the excess water
Add sugar and return to the stove and keep cooking till it becomes dry
Add grated coconut and cardamon powder and allow it to cool
Make tiny balls
Dip them in the batter and deep fry. The balls should be evenly coated with the batter.
Secret tip You can add some refined flour to the batter to make the boori’s a little crisp
