Description
A vegetarian side dish with healthy soya flakes
Ingredients
- 1 and 1/2 cups soya flakes
- 2 tsp yoghurt
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tbsp almond paste
- 2 tbsp tomato puree
- 2 onions grated
- 1 inch piece cinnamon
- 2 pods cardamon
- 2 cloves
- 1Â bay leaf (optional)
- 2 tbsp oil
- chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
Method
- Soak the soya flakes in hot water for 1/2 and hour. Squeeze dry
- Marinate the soya with a little ginger garlic paste, yoghurt, chilli powder, turmeric and salt for 1/2hour
- Pressure cook the soya
- Heat oil
- Add the cinnamon, cardamon, cloves and bay leaf
- Add the onions and cook till they are nicely browned
- Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt and saute for a while.
- Add the almond paste
- Drain the soya and add it to the onions and cook till the raw smell goes
- Add the tomato puree and a little water and let it simmer till it gets a little dry
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves
