A delicious lamb curry made with gongura leaves ( Red Sorrel)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg tender lamb cut into medium pieces
  • 2 and 1/2 cups gongura leaves
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 3 medium onions grated
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • few pods garlic
  • 2 tbsp oil

Method

  • Marinate lamb with a little ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt
  • Pressure cook for 15 minutes
  • Put the gongura leaves in a pan.
  • Add half teaspoon oil, cover with a lid and let it cook
  • When the leaves wilt, blend them coarsely into a paste
  • Brown the onions
  • Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt and saute for sometime
  • Add the cooked meat without the liquid and saute well
  • Add the gongura paste and cook
  • Fry some garlic pods till they turn brown
  • Sprinkle on top of the lamb before serving
