Ingredients

3 tbsp thuvar dhal

2 medium tomatoes

1 tsp julliene of ginger

2 green chillies slit lenghtwise

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

5-6 curry leaves

1/4 tsp mustard seeds

1/4 tsp pepper

1/4 tsp jeera

1/4 tsp coriander seeds

2 tbsp Lemon juice

5-6 crushed garlic pods

1 tsp oil

salt to taste

1 tsp chopped coriander leaves

a pinch of hing

Method

  1. Boil the thuvar dhal with the turmeric powder and salt with lots of water
  2. Crush the tomatoes along with the dhal and boil for sometime along with a few pods of garlic, ginger , green chillies and a little chopped coriander leaves
  3. Grind the pepper , jeera and coriander seeds to a coarse powder
  4. Heat the oil and add the mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves, crushed pepper jeera powder, garlic
  5. Add this to the dhal and tomato
  6. Add the lime juice and cook for sometime
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves
