Description Signature dish. Easy to make and simply delicious. Perfect as an appetizer or as a main with steamed rice.
Secret Tip Substitute salt with msg free, meat tenderiser. Sprinkle it on shrimp with some olive oil and let it marinate while you get the rest of the ingredients ready. After the shrimp is cooked sprinkle one tbsp of almond powder and a tsp of tomato paste and stir fry a couple of minutes to keep the shrimp moist. Garnish and serve!
Ingredients
2 Lbs Large Shrimp (8-10/lb)
2 Tbsp of Olive or Sunflower Oil
2 Onions finely sliced Pinch of Salt and 1 tsp Chilli powder (adjust to taste)
1/2 Tsp ginger paste 1 tsp Garlic paste (can substitute the ginger and garlic paste with 2 tsp of granulated garlic powder)
1/4 Tsp Turmeric
1/4 cup chopped cilantro for garnish
Preparation Method
If you are using frozen shrimp, thaw in cold running water. Peel, devein them and wash them well in cold water. Drain all the water and pat them dry with a paper towel
Stir fry the onions till they are golden brown.
Add the ginger and garlic paste and stir fry on low heat for 3-4 mins till they are lightly browned and fragrant Add the turmeric powder, salt and chilli powder and stir fry with the onion mixture.
Immediately add the shrimp and stir fry on medium high heat for 5 to 6 mins till the water is all gone and the shrimp is cooked well. Be careful not to overcook.
Garnish with cilantro and serve immediately
