Description

A delicious yogurt based curry with ripe mangoes.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups ripe mango pieces cubed
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • 2 cups thick yogurt

For the paste

  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 5 green chillies
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 inch piece ginger
For the tempering
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 3-4 dry red chillies
  • a few curry leaves
  • 2 tsp oil
Method
  • Cook the mango pieces in a little water along with the turmeric and chilli powder till the pieces are soft
  • Grind the ingredients for the paste finely
  • Add the ground paste to the cooked mango pieces
  • Beat the yogurt well and add it to the mango
  • Heat the oil, add the mustard seeds, red chillies and curry leaves
  • Add this seasoning to the yogurt and allow it to simmer for a few minutes
  • Season with salt
Take care to see that the yogurt does not curdle.
