Description
Crabs cooked in tamarind and coconut milk
Ingredients
- 8 medium sized crabs
- 1 and 1/2 cups onion paste
- 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 3 tsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/4 tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp tamarind paste
- 1 cup coconut milk
- Salt to taste
- 4-5 tbsp oil
Method
- Clean and wash the crabs well. You can cut them into two halves if they are big or leave them as they are. Crack the claws slightly
- Heat the oil and add the onion paste
- Cook the onions till they are nicely browned, on a slow flame
- Add the ginger garlic paste and saute well
- Add the turmeric, chilli and coriander powders, garam masala and salt and saute
- Add the crabs to this masala and toss them well
- Add a little water and cook them covered for about 10 minutes.
- Add the tamarind paste and let it simmer for a couple of minutes
- Add the coconut milk and simmer till the gravy thickens and coats the crab
