Description
A crispy rice pancake served for breakfast . An all time favourite of the young and old
Ingredients
- 2 cups boiled rice ( Khar Variety)
- 1Â cup black gram dhal
- 1/2 tsp methi seeds
- 1 tsp salt
- a pinch of soda bicarb
- Oil for making the dosa
Method
- Wash the rice and dhal well and soak them separately in water for at least 4 – 5 hours
- Add the methi seeds to the dhal
- Grind the rice in a wet grinder or food processor till it is smooth but still a little coarse grained
- Next grind the dhal till it is very smooth and frothy. You may have to add a little water from time to time. The volume will double.
- Mix the rice and dhal together along with the salt and soda bicarb and allow it to ferment overnight (6 -8 hours)
- Mix the batter well
- Heat a dosa tava
- Pour a spoonful of batter on the centre of the tava when it is hot and spread it in a circular motion moving outward from the centre.
- Pour some oil on the sides
- When the dosa is done, flip it and cook on the other side.
- Serve hot with Sambar, chutney or any gravy
