Description:

Fish in a spicy, tangy curry.

Ingredients:

Fish (tilapia)

One large onion, chopped into large, ½ inch pieces

Cilantro

Hing – 3 shakes

Bunch of curry leaves

2 roma tomatoes cut into large pieces

Tomato paste – ½ small can

2 green chilis cut into large pieces

¼ tsp ginger-garlic paste

Tamarind paste (place block in hot water and soak until soft. Break apart and strain.)

Garlic powder


Preparation Method:

Wash fish, put lime juice and pat fully dry. Marinate in turmeric, chili powder, garlic powder, and salt. Important that the meat is fully dry.

Into hot oil, add 3 shakes of hing, 1 tsp of mustard seeds, curry leaves, and onions

Add salt (prevents onions from becoming brown), turmeric, chili powder, and ginger-garlic paste

Add green chilies and tomatoes

Cook but don’t allow onions to become too brown.

Add 1- 2 cups of hot water and cook until tomatoes are totally soft.

Add tomato paste.

Once fully cooked, add about 1 cup tamarind paste to taste.
