Description  Perfect with Idlis and Dosas

Ingredients

  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1/2 cup fried gram
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 5-6 curry leaves
  • 1 inch piece of ginger
  • 2 red chillies ( optional)
  • 2 tsps oil
  • a pinch of hing
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp curd ( optional)

 

Method

  • Heat half the oil in a kadai.
  • Fry roasted gram, green chillies and ginger
  • Combine the coconut, gram, chillies, ginger and salt in a blender with just enough water to make a thick paste.
  • Heat the remaining oil.
  • Add the mustard seeds, curry leaves, red chillies and hing. Temper the chutney with this mixture. You can add curd at this stage.
