Ingredients
For the pesarattu
- 2Â cups whole green gram dhal with the skin
- 2 – 3 green chillies
- 1 inch piece of ginger
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup finely chopped ginger, onions and green chillies
For the chutney
- 2 cups onions finely chopped
- 2 tbsp coriander seeds
- 5 red chillies
- 1 tbsp tamarind paste
- salt to taste
- 1Â tbsp oil
Method
- Soak the whole green gram dhal in water for 5 – 6 hours
- Grind it to a paste along with the green chillies and ginger
- Add salt and keep aside for 1/2 hour.
- Heat a dosa tava and pour the batter and make it like a dosa adding a little oil.
- Sprinkle finely chopped ginger, green chillies and onions on top before flipping to the other side.
For the Chutney
- Heat the oil in a kadai and fry the coriander seeds, red chillies and onions till the onions turn pale pink.
- Grind to a fine paste.
- Add the tamarind paste and salt.
